10 Ways To Stay Young at Heart

How are you feeling about your age and the way you act? Do you feel old or young at heart?
Are you a lucky one that looks young for your age?

Age is just a number. Some people look 10 years younger and also act like they are still 20 years old! One of my good friends is 72 years old and acts like he is still 52!! You should see him skiing down the hill! He is impressive and, at times, he is the one challenging me at times! We also ride our motorcycles together and have done a few moto-camping trips.

I have to admit, I love feeling young and looking young. When I say to people that I’m 45 years old, their faces change! Being active helps me for sure. It is also related to what I eat and my genetics. My father is 68 and he is just starting to have white hair. I have 2 or 3!

If you want to stay young at heart, here are some tips for you.

  • You are what you eat. Eating fresh and a lot of vegetables will keep your skin moisturized and young.

  • Move everyday. Exercising everyday will help you to keep a firm skin, healthy joints and bones and reduce pain.
  • Play like a kid. Playing games, joining teams such as pickle ball or baseball will keep you younger. Indeed, surround yourself with younger people.
  • Don’t spend to much time in front of the mirror. I am serious. The more time you spend looking at yourself, the more imperfections you will find.
  • Sit or lay on the floor. The day you won’t be able to get up from the floor without calling the firefighters, you will be old. I always encourage my clients to do exercises on the floor to target different muscles and also to do yoga (get my yoga videos here). If you want to learn how to get floor more easily, practice by using my free video here. I still like sitting on the floor to put my socks and shoes on!
  • Laugh every day. Babies laugh every day. Adults have such a hard time doing it once a day! Smile at strangers, laugh at yourself, watch comedy movies and have a blast with friends. You just need to find occasions to laugh. Do you remember the last time you laughed so hard that you had pain in your tummy and made your mascara run?
  • Volunteer. Choose an organization that you care about and give a few hours of your time. You will find that it is very rewarding and it will also give you a sense of purpose.
  • Keep you mind sharp. Do puzzles, memory games, volunteer, work a few hours or babysit your grandkids.
  • Choose to be happy. If you know me personally, you can tell I am a happy woman. And it is only because I have worked and chosen to be happy. If you want to be happy, get rid of toxic situations and disagreeable people from your life.  Think and talk positively. • Travel locally or internationally. Live your life to the fullest. I love travelling to meet new people, learn different cultures and step out of my comfort zone.

I have one client who will soon be 87 years old.  Jim is another of my inspirations. He is a happy man and participates in 6 classes per week with me! Whether you are 30 or 90 years old, you only become old when you decide to be old. Stay active and be happy. Life is too short to be miserable! Feel younger and live longer.
